Make your own organic soy milk recipe that is free of lactose and dairy. It is also best to make your own as you can make it sugar free and eliminate any preservatives that might come in prepacked soy milk. Soy milk is the cheapest milk alternative and can be made in a few simple steps.
How to make Organic Soya Milk at Home
Soak the organic soybeans overnight.
Strain and rinse the beans.
Place soaked beans in a large bowl with more water. Use your hands to remove the outer shells. It is ok if you do not remove them all. Scoop as many shells out of the water as possible.
Add the beans and 2-3 cups of water to a blender or food processor. (Add more water for thinner milk.)
Blend until it gets smooth for at least 2-3 minutes.
Place a strainer on top of your large bowl and cover the strainer with the cheese cloth or nut bag. Squeeze all of the liquid from the cloth by folding it or closing the bag tightly. Save the okara (left over soy pieces for another recipe or discard it.)
Place the milk in a large pot and boil it for about 20 Minutes while continuously stirring.
Add optional sweeteners at this time.
Taste your milk to see if it is no longer bitter. Then let it cool and pour into a pitcher. Refrigerate for up to 4 days.
Remember to shake or stir your soy milk before consuming as it tends to separate and thicken.
